Druridge Bay Aviation Museum

Site Introduction:
Druridge Bay is 7 miles long
coastal bay in Northumberland,
England, stretching from Amble in the north to Cresswell in the south. During the Second World War many planes were shot down and defenses were constructed around Druridge Bay as a part of British anti-invasion preparations for World War II.
Brief:
To design a museum that is commemorative, educational and social. The proposal will serve as a focal point and gateway for visitors to England's most northerly county. As a
contemporary educational facility it will provide a permanent or temporary flexible exhibition space and interactive educational facilities. It will also offer Youth Hostel Association accommodation facilities for the students and staff members.
Aims of the museum :
- To educate the community about World War II Aircrafts that were shot down by the Druridge bay coastal area. The site is located within the rich historic and physical context of
Northumberland.
- To be a building that ages with the landscape and become a ruin in itself.
- To resemble the high technology of aircrafts on the inside of the building.
- To be able to raise funds for the FORCES CHILDREN'S TRUST.
